John Gascot

John Gascot, a Queer Latin American artist, attributes his vibrant use of color to his childhood in Puerto Rico. He works in various styles, but his Latin Pop paintings stand out as his hallmark. Gascot developed this unique style, which merges Folk, Pop, and Cubism, over years and named it himself. His art, known for combining global influences into contemporary narratives, transcends cultural boundaries. The figures in his artwork, notable for their size and curves, symbolize strength and presence rather than physical dimension. Through his work, Gascot advocates for diversity and examines societal and gender norms across cultures.

Beyond his art, Gascot contributes to the community as co-owner and curator of Studios @ 5663, and as the founder of Diversity Arts Inc., a nonprofit aimed at supporting underserved youth with art workshops in a safe environment. He is also a key figure in the establishment of the Pinellas Arts Village.
